Margaret Anderson, the National Park Service Ranger who was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 1 was only 34, but her wedding announcement showed she had accomplished a lot.
Anderson, nee Kritsch, married Eric Anderson in October 2005. The couple has two young daughters, ages 4 and 2. The information below is taken from the couple's wedding announcement.
The couple met while they both worked as park rangers at Bryce National Park in Utah. Margaret attended Kansas State University where she earned a B.S. in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology in 1999.
In 2000, Margaret graduated from the Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program at Northern Arizona University. She then pursued a master's degree in biology from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., in 2004.
Margaret began working for the National Park Service in 2000 and worked at the Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah from 2000-2003 as a seasonal ranger. She then worked at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park in Maryland as a park ranger.
Eric graduated from Whitman-Hanson High School in Whitman, Mass., in 1997 and earned his B.S. in Park Management from Unity College in Unity, Me. in 2001. In 2002, he graduated from the National Park Service Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Academy at Southwestern Community College in Franklin, N.C.
Eric was a wildland firefighter for the National Park Service at the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado from 2000 to 2001. Since 2002, he has been a ranger for the National Park Service. He worked at Bryce Canyon National Park from 2002 to 2003 and at Yellowstone National Park in 2004.
